July

A poem

her eyes are my favorite time of day

hair pirouettes across her
face accenting ears
nose and lips
a stray curl tightroping
directly above
the palindrome of
my love for her as i
kiss a soft poem from
halo-to-sole

my lips a return trip locomotive
departing from her eyes
w/ stops at
the forehead
nostrils
mouth
nape
chest
around to sides
and up the branches of
her arms
and back to front
the pit of her belly
buttoning the initial stage of the journey

and moving on
to hips
hugging those perfect curves
down through thighs
with a brief lay-over at
the sexuality between

before heading down
her trunks to
ankles
toes
and finally
hesitating at her arches
returning the way i came
to once again rest
on her eyes

and this moment
as seemingly always
my hands awash in
the sides of her face
the curl before mouth and nose
that ballet dancer of hair
and the unending beginning of
my futured present
reflected in the
autumn-green sargasso
of her eyes
